About UFB

With 18 years of academic tradition, enriching continuously the heritage from its founders - National Bank of Romania and the Romanian Banking Association - tertiary structure of RBI (Romanian Banking Institute), University of Finance and Banking is today one of the best universities for finance and banking in Romania.

1991 - The Romanian Banking Institute (RBI) is founded.
1993 - The College of Banking is founded under the RBI, as a structure for short-term university education (3 years), with the objective to train specialists in the field of banking.
1998 - The Faculty of Financial Management is established under the RBI, as a structure for long-term university education (4 year).
2005 - The College of Banking and The Faculty of Financial Management become autonomous university structures.

With EU accession, Romania adopts the Bologna system and colleges disappear as university structures. Following these changes, since 2005, The College of Banking gradually disappears from the UFB future educational offer and its academic resources shifts to The Faculty of Financial Management.

2005 - Department of Financial Management is proposed for accreditation.
2009 - Faculty of Financial Management obtained accreditation by Law 274/2009.

With this accreditation, Faculty of Financial Management acquires legal personality distinct from that of its founders - National Bank of Romania and the Romanian Association of Banks - so that as of 2009, University of Finance and Banking arises as independent academic institution.

2009 - The University of Finance and Banking is established by law, including the Faculty of Financial Management.
